Our mission for this open mic is to help create opportunities for artistic expression long stifled in the lgbt community. Simply by inhabiting our bodies as fully as we strive to, we become outlaws. At open mics, we're too sexual. In pride parades, we're too freaky. We make gays who are trying to be 'like everyone else' more than a bit uncomfortable ... but not (usually) because we're trying to.
With Dirty Queer, we're seeking to create a space to express the individual, creative, erotic self ... and be both seen and appreciated.
